BECTU
Bectu is the union for creative ambition. They represent over 40,000 staff, contract and freelance workers in the media and entertainment industries. They can offer a huge range of support to members from legal advice, training, help with employment issues, bullying and harassment as well as issues around equality and diversity, just to mention a few.
Raising Films
Raising Films is a non-profit organization that supports parents and carers working in the UK screen industries. They challenge the demands that these industries make on parents and carers, and work to ensure that the industry is more supportive of its parent and carer members. They work with industry partners and the wider film and television community to enact solutions, by lobbying, providing information, educating, and signposting.
Pregnant Then Screwed
Pregnant Then Screwed is a UK-based charity that supports pregnant women and new mothers who are facing discrimination at work. They provide free legal advice, mentor women taking legal action against their employers, and offer flexible working support. They also lobby the government for legislative change, organize events to help mothers find work that works for them, and support mums to start a career in politics. They document the stories of mothers who encounter workplace discrimination to raise awareness and create change.

Talent Manager is an industry-leading recruitment network and resource for employers and freelancers in the TV industry. Used by all the major indies and broadcasters to search for talent, it has also developed a raft of tools to help improve the diversity of the creative industries, as well as functionality to facilitate recruiters and freelancers offering or looking for flexible working and job sharing opportunities.
Media Parents
Media Parents is a website and organisation which aims to pull all the short-term, regular hours, job share, and part-time jobs in media into one place, to help freelance working parents or anyone who wants to work flexibly to balance the demands of media and other commitments, and to make it easier for employers to find this highly skilled and experienced part of the media workforce. They also advertise standard TV contracts and let our talent decide if the job suits them.
FINANCIAL HELP
Film + TV Charity
The Film and TV Charity is a UK charity for cinema exhibition, television and film, supporting professionals behind the screen in times of need. They offer a wide range of support, including stop-gap grants usually up to £750, and with a quick and straightforward application process they can provide immediate financial support when it’s needed the most for things such as childcare or household bills. To be eligible to apply you must work behind-the-camera in film or television in the UK.

Actors' Benevolent Fund
The ABF can help you manage your household expenses until you get back on your feet. We may be able to support you with a weekly payment as well as small grants for household bills, such as utilities, home insurance, and car insurance. We may also be able to help with larger, one-off payments, such as disability aids or kitchen appliances. We can also offer advice on which benefits you may be eligible for, to ensure you are receiving all the support you are entitled to. Please be aware that the support they offer is on a case-by-case basis.
Directors Charitable Foundation
Directors Charitable Foundation (DCF) is the charity for the UK’s screen and stage directors. They have two aims: To support and help directors in need (see Directors Support Scheme and Mental Health ).
Step Change
Step Change is a debt charity which offers impartial debt advice as well a range of solutions for paying off debt.
Turn2us
Turn2us helps people in financial need gain access to welfare benefits, charitable grants and other financial help
They offer two types of grants, the Turn2us Elizabeth Finn Fund has brought financial support to people who need it and The Turn2us Response Fund is for people who have recently experienced a financial shock or income loss.
Futures for Women
Futures for Women is a registered charity established in 1859 by suffragist Jessie Boucherett to encourage women towards economic independence through employment and this objective still underpins their activities today. Interest-free loans of up to £1000 are available to women studying a post-graduate degree or a professional training course which will lead to their desired career.
Family Fund
Family Fund is the UK's largest grant-making charity for families raising a disabled or seriously ill child (up to 24 years old) on a low income. They believe that families raising disabled or seriously ill children and young people should have the same choices, quality of life, opportunities and aspirations as wider families.
Family Action
Family Action provide small educational grants to students aged 14 and over who are already studying on a further education course at a college which is affiliated with Family Action. Grants may be given to pay for 'additional costs' such as books and/or equipment required for the course, never for fees or daily living expenses.
The Arts Council
The Arts Council provides grants from £1,000 to £30,000 (average £5,000) for individuals or arts organisations involved in arts-related activities that benefit people in England, or that help artists and arts organisations in England to carry out their work

Screenskils Bursaries
ScreenSkills provide bursaries which are designed to provide financial assistance to those looking to enter, progress in, return to, or transfer into the screen industries. The cash grant is designed to remove some of the practical barriers to making progress in the screen industries. Bursaries pay for training or other costs associated with skills development.
