Maternal mental health with Jessie Hunt (APP) and Lucy Maxwell (FTVC)

Trigger warning: Please note that this Zoom session will discuss maternal mental health, which may include topics that are sensitive or triggering for some people. If you are currently experiencing difficult circumstances related to maternal mental health, please be aware that this session may contain content that is challenging to process. You are welcome to join us and remain silent, turn off your camera, or reach out for support if needed.

In this session, we will welcome Jessie Hunt from Action on Postpartum Psychosis and Lucy Maxwell from the Film and TV Charity, to discuss maternal mental health and postpartum depression.

Jessie Hunt from Action on Postpartum Psychosis

Postpartum psychosis and media with Jessie from APP

Join Jessie, part-time comm lead at the charity Action on Postpartum Psychosis (APP) shares her personal experience with postpartum psychosis (PP) and discusses the powerful role of media and storytelling in raising awareness and challenging stigma. Jessie experienced this treatable medical emergency ‘out of the blue’ 11 years ago and is passionate about helping other mums and families by using storytelling to drive change.

Jessie will discuss the impact that portrayals of PP in film, TV, literature and theatre have in reaching thousands and sometimes millions of people. She will talk about how APP works with journalists, documentary makers, script writers, novelists, playwrights and film makers to ensure that these depictions – whether factual or fictional – benefit from real life stories and expert knowledge.

APP’s work includes supporting a Hollyoaks storyline, a Louis Theroux documentary, and a national billboard campaign in March 2024, which reached over 16 million people.

Virtual boundaries: thoughts and tips for our new working lives with Sam Jukes-Adams

Sam headshot (no arrows).png

We can safely say that the virtual world has made its own space in all of our homes. Living digitally is here to stay, exhaust us and, yes-ok, help us out with work-from-home environments. Our Cinemamas HQ resides in our bedrooms , kitchens and living rooms.

In this session, accredited Executive coach and a certified Mental Health First Aider, Sam Jukes-Adams will talk to us about how to navigate living life digitally, from setting the frame so we feel present with people, to managing expectations around how much time we can sustain, and using different platforms for different experiences, so we get to also feel like ‘we’re going somewhere’ for work, friends, family etc…

As we start thinking about what life will look like after lockdown we realise that many have totally blurred the lines between work life and home life.

Everyone has transitioned to working virtually and remotely but are we really the most out of zoom? Are there ways of using zoom better?

Sam talks to us about redefining work-life boundaries but also looking at how to set boundaries and recognise when you’ve had enough. We explore this from a personal and professional perspective.

FLEXIBLE WORKING ACROSS THE CREATIVE SCREEN INDUSTRIES

A key area that has emerged over the past few years is the increasing need for skilled people to service and support the demand for content across all the screen industries. However, many people, for a variety reasons, have left the industry due to the demands of their lives. Until fairly recently, there does appear to have been a lack of constructive thinking about how it might be addressed, but that is changing. This cross-industry panel discussion will look at what is being done to create a flexible working offer in order to attract more professionals back into the industries..

Moderator: Michelle James Speakers: Louise Patel – Producer/Director Valeria Bullo – Production Consultant Simon Devereux – Head of Learning & Development, The Mill Jonathan Stadlen – MD Knickerbockerglory Sarah Hoeksma – Marketing Director, Sold Out
