This session serves as an introduction to the SFA: Suicide First Aid through understanding suicide intervention - the UK’s national qualification in suicide prevention. Topics to be discussed in this  workshop include:

  • The mental health continuum

  • the continuum of suicide - understanding what suicide is and how it starts

  • recognising the core needs of a person with thoughts of suicide

  • an introduction to the Suicide Safety Guide - the three steps to support someone with thoughts of suicide

Approx 45 mins with 15 mins  for Q and A.

This session is aimed at anyone who is interested in understanding more about the theory and practice of suicide intervention skills that can be applied in any professional or personal setting.

Speaker

This training is led by Solas Mind company founder and director Sarah McCaffrey who has extensive experience of working in film and high-end TV as a training manager. In response to industry research and her background as a psychotherapist (MBACP) and a Suicide First Aid associate tutor, she launched Solas Mind to provide effective  mental health support  services to productions, studios, crew and creative freelancers.
